Aromatherapists use pure, natural plant essences to support health and wellness. Aromatherapy is not intended to replace medical care, but rather to complement it. Our in-house aromatherapist, Julia Washburn, incorporates essential oils into our products to maximize benefits and is also available for personal aromatherapy consultation and blending.

Plants are truly amazing. They produce hundreds of phytochemicals, which offer numerous benefits not only to the plants themselves but also to us. Essential oils are often considered the essence or soul of a plant. They are typically extracted through steam distillation or pressing. At Willow Botanicals, we offer a line of pure essential oils sourced from small farmers and incorporate these oils to enhance the wellness benefits of our products. 

Essential oils are safe if used strictly as directed. They contain powerful, concentrated phytochemicals that, if misused, can be toxic and even deadly. Our products are for external use only. Pure essential oils should be kept out of the reach of children and pets, and away from the eyes, inner ears, or other sensitive areas. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under a doctor’s care, you should consult your physician before use. Essential oils sometimes cause skin sensitivity. It is best to conduct a skin patch test before using the product.

To check if your skin is sensitive to an essential oil or product containing an essential oil, place a small drop in the crook of your arm where you bend it. Cover the drop with a bandage. Wait a few hours and check the site. If it is red and irritated, don’t use the product. If the site is clear, proceed to use the product as directed.

An essential oil diffuser disperses particles of an essential oil or blend into the air for gentle inhalation. A wide variety of diffusers is available online and in stores. At Willow Botanicals, we have eco-friendly, handmade diffusers available for sale. Simply place up to 5 drops of the oil or blend into the diffuser for 30 minutes. You can repeat the process up to four times a day. Ensure pets have the option to leave the room if they need to, in case they experience sensitivity to the oil. 

Aromatherapy is not a substitute for medical care. However, it can support health and wellness. Natural, independent perfumer and aromatherapist Julia Washburn will work with you to create a custom scent for yourself or a special someone in your life. Julia studied perfumery with master perfumers in Europe and the US. She has over 200 beautiful and rare oils in her “perfumer's organ” to create gorgeous, custom, one-of-a-kind scent accords, perfumes, and colognes. The process is lots of fun, and the scents are very personal. 

CBD stands for Cannabidiol, one of over 60 substances that naturally occur in the cannabis plant (Cannabis sativa). You have probably heard of THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), also derived from cannabis. THC is the substance that has psychoactive effects, which people smoke or ingest for medical or recreational purposes. Both CBD and THC are cannabinoids. Unlike THC, CBD does not have psychoactive, mind-altering effects. Dr. Raphael Mechoulam first analysed CBD in detail in 1963. However, people have used cannabis as part of traditional medicine for thousands of years.

Full-spectrum means our CBD preparation contains other beneficial cannabinoids also derived from the cannabis plant. However, it contains less than 0.3% THC and has no psychoactive effects. It is safe and effective.

Our bodies naturally produce cannabinoids. We also have a complex system of cannabinoid receptors within our brain, immune system, and major organs. This system, called the endocannabinoid system, was only discovered about 30 years ago. It helps regulate important functions like mood, sleep, appetite, memory, immune response, and pain sensation. Sometimes we don’t produce enough cannabinoids, and our system gets out of balance. Luckily, the cannabis plant also makes cannabinoids that can help, like CBD.

Yes, CBD is safe if used as directed. The only major side effect of CBD is that it can make you sleepy when taken in higher doses.

Very, very carefully! We strive to make Willow Botanicals a regenerative business, doing good for the planet and its people. This is a tall order, and we try to do better every day.  

We source ingredients from farmers, producers, and vendors who use sustainable and ethical practices to grow plants and produce essential oils, base oils, waxes, and butters. None of our ingredients or products are tested on animals. We support small farmers and businesses with fair trade policies. We seek organic products when possible, but small farmers around the world are not always able to obtain organic certification. Our bottles and packaging are eco-friendly and recycled when possible. We hate plastic and avoid it whenever possible. However, we have found it nearly impossible to eliminate all plastic from our business. As we grow, we will continue to find ways to limit or eliminate plastic.

We seek organic products when possible, but small farmers around the world are not always able to obtain organic certification. Therefore, if we cannot find an organic ingredient, we ensure the producer uses sustainable practices.

Not all essential oils are safe for pets. Follow all directions and do not use our products on pets unless they are made and marketed specifically for pets.

Regeneration is the process of actively doing good for Mother Earth and her children. It goes beyond the idea of doing no harm or simply using sustainable practices. Regenerative practices should improve conditions for people and the planet, rather than depleting energy/resources or keeping them the same.
